NATIONAL

Delhi Declaration on Afghanistan

  • It was a third regional security summit on Afghanistan hosted by India.
  • The summit was attended by eight nations.
  • It includes India, Russia, Iran, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.
  • It was announced that Afghanistan & its territories cannot be used to shelter or train terrorists, or to finance any act of terrorism.

Ayushman Bharat-Digital Mission

  • The Union Health Ministry has launched digital registration of all medical facilities and all doctors under the Ayushman Bharat-Digital Mission in order to digitise health records.
  • Under this initiative, the government hospitals have been asked to procure Hospital Information Management System software.
  • Under this mission, every Indian will be provided a unique health ID.
  • The Citizens would be able to access healthcare facilities by a single click.
  • This mission will be implemented by National Health Authority (NHA) under Ministry of Health & Family Welfare.

National Achievement Survey 2021

  • The Indian Government is ready to implement sample-based National Achievement Survey (NAS) for Classes 3, 5, 8, and 10 with a cycle period of three years.
  • It is set to cover entire spectrum of schools including Government Schools of Central Government as well as State Government, Government Aided Schools and Private schools across India.
  • Previous one survey was carried in 2017.
  • This survey will help in assessing the learning interruptions and new learnings during covid-19 pandemic.
  • The National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) has done instrument development, testing, sampling of the schools and finalization of the test items.
  • But actual administration of the test in sampled schools will be done by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE).

INTERNATIONAL

FW de Klerk

  • He passed away at 85.
  • He was South Africa’s last apartheid president.
  • It was FW de Klerk who in 1990 had announced that Nelson Mandela will be released from prison.
  • FW de Klerk and Nelson Mandela were awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993
  • He was the last President from the era of white-minority rule.
  • Klerk’s government dismantled the apartheid system and introduced democracy in South Africa.
  • He was succeeded by Nelson Mandela as South Africa’s first Black President in 1993.

IMPORTANT DAYS

Public Service Broadcasting Day – 12 November

  • It is to commemorate 50 years of the historic visit of the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi to All India Radio.
  • It was the first and only visit of Mahatma Gandhi to the studio of All India Radio at Delhi in 1947.
  • Gandhi addressed the displaced people (a refugee from Pakistan), who had temporarily settled at Kurukshetra in Haryana after partition
  • In the year 2001, the day was officially declared as Public Service Broadcasting.

World bird day – 12 November

  • November 12 is the birth anniversary of veteran ornithologist Salim Ali.
  • He was born in Mumbai on 12th November in 1896.
  • Salim Ali is known as Birdman of India.
  • Along with Sidney Dillon Ripley, he wrote “the Birds of India and Pakistan”.
  • He was instrumental in the creation of the Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary in Rajasthan.
  • He became a key figure behind the Bombay Natural History Society after 1947
  • Maharashtra celebrates ‘Bird Week’ from Nov 5-12 Every Year.
  • On this day in 1990 also, the World Wide Web project was initiated as an idea by Tim Berners-Lee.
  • The WWW was also the name of the first web browser which was developed by Berners-Lee himself.

  • The Congress leader Salman Khurshid recently launched his book on the Ayodhya verdict named “Sunrise over Ayodhya – Nationhood in our Times”.
  • A book titled “Nehru: The Debates that Defined India” is co-authored by Tripur daman Singh and Adeel Hussain.
  • Aseem Chawla released his new book “Finding A Straight Line Between Twists and Turns – An Imperfect, Yet Honest Reflections on the Indian Tax Landscape”.
  • Assem Chawla is one of India’s leading tax lawyers and well-known international tax and policy expert.
