1) Kerala Startup Mission to host Women Startup Summit in Kochi.

The ‘Women Startup Summit 2019’ aims at encouraging aspiring women professionals to take up their entrepreneurial journey & develop an inclusive entrepreneurship ecosystem in the State.The theme is,“Developing an Inclusive Entrepreneurship Ecosystem”.

2) India’s Anshula Kant is World Bank MD and CFO

Anshula Kant, an Indian national, has been appointed the next MD and CFO of World Bank. Ms. Kant will be the first woman CFO of the Bank. Ms. Kant will be responsible for financial and risk management and report to Mr. Malpass.

3) Tropical Storm Barry hits Louisiana in US

In the US, Tropical Storm Barry began hitting Louisiana with wind and rain, building towards hurricane strength. Utility repair crews with bucket trucks have been moved into position in the region.

4) Vikas Swarup has been appointed as Secretary, Overseas Indian Affairs

Swarup, a 1986-batch officer of the IFS, is at present India’s High Commissioner in Ottawa.He has been appointed as the Secretary, (consular, passport, visa and Overseas Indian affairs) in the External Affairs Ministry.

India will overtake the UK to become the world’s 5th biggest economy, and will surpass Japan to be the third largest in 2025.The Finance Ministry has published an economic roadmap to 2025 in its latest annual Economic Survey.

7) Table Tennis: G. Sathiyan, Anthony Amalraj win bronze at World Tour Platinum Australian Open

In Table Tennis, the Indian pair of G. Sathiyan and Anthony Amalraj won the bronze at the World Tour Platinum Australian Open after they lost to top seed Korean pair of Jeoung Youngsik and Lee Sangsu in Geelong near Melbourne.
