The Staff Selection Commission announces eligibility criteria for every exam in its recruitment notification prior to the exam. Candidates should check the official website for SSC exam to get updated information about eligibility criteria. In general, however, the eligibility criteria for different examinations are as follows.
SSC Exam Eligibility Combined Graduate Level (CGL) Exam
Minimum qualification required for diffident posts as follows;
• Compiler Posts – Bachelor’s Degree from any recognized university with Statistics or Economics or Mathematics as compulsory or elective subject.
• Statistical Investigator Posts – Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, or Bachelor’s Degree in Mathematics or Economics or Commerce, with Statistics as one of the main subjects.
• All Other Posts – Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from any recognized university

SSC Exam Eligibility Combined Higher Secondary Level Exam
Minimum qualification required to appear for this exam is 10+2 or its equivalent from any recognized board. Age limit for this exam is 18-27 years.
Eligibility Criteria for SSC Junior Engineer Exam
Minimum qualification required to apply for different junior engineer posts are as follows;
For Junior Engineer (Electrical & Civil) in CPWD & Department of Posts – Three years’ diploma in electrical or civil engineering from any government recognized institution.
For Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical), Border Roads Organization (BRO) Ministry of Defence – Three years’ diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering from any government recognized institution or university.
For Junior Engineer (Civil), Border Roads Organization (BRO) Ministry of Defence – Three years’ diploma in civil engineering from any government recognized institution or university.
For Junior Engineer (Civil) in MES – Degree in civil engineering or three year’s diploma in civil engineering with two years’ hands-on experience in civil engineering works.
For Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) in MES – Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or three year’s diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering with two years’ hands-on experience in electrical or mechanical engineering works.
For Junior Engineer (Electrical & Mechanical) in CWC and Farakka Barrage – Degree or Diploma in electrical or mechanical engineering.
For Junior Engineer (Quantity Surveying and Contract) in MES – Three years’ diploma in civil engineering or intermediate degree in Building and Quantity Surveying Sub divisional 2 of the Institute of Surveyors (India).
Age Limit for different junior engineer posts is as follows;
Between 18 and 27 years for junior engineers (QS&C) in MES, and junior engineers (Electrical & Civil) in CPWD & Department of Posts
Not more than 30 years for junior engineers (civil, mechanical, and electrical) in MES and in BRO of Ministry of Defence.
Not more than 32 years for junior engineers in CWC and Farakka Barrage
